Connecting Railroads and Junctions

Freight Connections and Junction Points

To get the job done of transporting goods the Duluth, South Shore, and Atlantic Railway (DSS&A) and the Mineral Range Railroad (MRRR) had to exchange freight cars with other railroads. These exchanges took place at junction points where railroad lines meet. By these means DSS&A cars would be able to move outside of the Upper Peninsula. In turn, it would be the freight cars from these connecting lines that would most often be seen on DSS&A and MRRR tracks. Here is a list of the connecting railroads and junction points in 1922 for the DSS&A and MRRR.

For the MRRR, I would have thought that Calumet would also be a junction point with the Copper Range. Perhaps some one else would no if this was the case.
